Welcome Parents

ARE YOU FED UP WITH BATTLES?   Ask Annie!

Notes for the week of February 6th, 2012

There's a new editorial to read this week.  Apologies to those that have been waiting longer than usual for it.  Have a good week!.

WHY CHOOSE ANNIE?

When children start misbehaving, parents feel confused, worried embarrassed and exhausted by their child's behavior. Is this a stage?  Will it just stop it on its own?  What do I do?  Most parents respond by reading books, looking to friends for advice and trying out new tactics.  Most often, none of it works and the behaviors continue to grow.  Why?  Because, parents often fail to understand what it is their child is trying to tell them.  And it's knowing what it is that your child is looking to you for and providing it, that is critical to putting behavior issues behind you.

I'm not talking about a magic fix.  Telling you that it's possible to solve your child/children's behavior issues by just using tips, is like telling a potential dieter that they can lose all the weight they want delving in to chip packet, if only they walk around the block once in a while.

If you want to banish whining, bedtime battles and other challenging behaviors, no matter where you are in the world, I can help!  All it takes is a consultation with me, a few days of hard work and voila!  Yes, it really is that simple. But first, read on.

So what services does Annie offer?

  • To everyone I offer a highly effective phone consultation service that takes about between two and three hours and will give you all the information you need to get rid of your children's behavior issues once and for all. You'll understand finally what it is that your children really need from you and why.  Once you give it to them all the challenging behaviors you've been facing will melt away. Something I guarantee will leave both you and your children a whole lot happier.
  • An in-home consultation for those in the Calgary area which will cover the same material as the phone consultation but I get to see you in person and meet the kids. (Although seeing you in person is more fun, I should stress the two types of interview, both in-home and phone are equally effective.) See notes at the bottom of the page for additional information with regards to a home visit.

OR

  • If you'd like to see what kind of advice I'd give you, by all means e-mail me with your question.  (It's my way of giving back to the community, so I answer as many as I can.)  Please be advised however, that if you use this service to keep your question to one topic and be specific.  Please also understand that this is not a forum where I can undertake to solve all your problems ie. if you are getting behaviour issues across the board.  In those cases, I would suggest my far more in-depth consultations that get to the root of the issue.  If you wish to use this service please press on the red postbox.
  • If you want to check me out and see what my advice is like, please read all the information on this site as there is a ton of free information, from letters I've answered from all over the world, to editorial commentary. Be sure to check out the feature letter at the bottom of the page. If you want to make a comment with regards something I've written, please send me an e-mail and I'll happily post it.
  • Check with me by e-mail to see what classes I'm running and when.  Again please use the postbox to contact me.
  • If you're really impressed with my advice, a donation is always appreciated. There's a donate button at the end of the page.

Notes on the home visit.

Most of my clients don't need anymore help than my 2 - 3 hour consultation. However there are occasions when a family is lacking support or mom is just having a super hard time and needs some extra help during that first behavior-changing week.  If that's the case, please don't feel guilty. We can certainly talk about me giving you that extra help.  In those cases, I teach you over the week how to do what's necessary by actually physically showing you. I take the lead first and then hand you the reins and over the course of a few days allowing you get tons of practice with me there for support.  Please contact me for further details.

Letters of the week

My neice keeps screaming!

Annie - My 19 month old niece has a screaming problem.  She will for no reason scream and it is a piercing scream and her parents don't know what to do about it.  It is very disruptive and when we are all having dinner she inevitably does it.  Her parents say she does it at home as well at dinner and I believe at other times as well.  There doesn't seem to be any reason for it, it just all of a sudden happens.  Otherwise she is a good girl...happy and well adjusted.  It has been going on for quite some time.

Any suggestions from you to stop this from happening would be appreciated.

I look forward to your response.

Thank you

Linda
